In 2011, David, henceforth known as the Overlord, married Sacha and opened Nice Bike. It was kind of a big year. He took his years of experience working at the Denver Spoke, now a legend in time, his contacts from the Spoke, and some friends to create Nice Bike.
It was his opportunity to share his passion for the highest end cycling equipment and knowledge of how to create a unique build with details that help it stand out from the peloton. The Overlord’s builds are where a client’s dream and reality meet. There isn’t anything we can say that the bikes don’t say better. Check out some of our favorite custom builds here.
Sacha’s love for David and excitement in making David’s dream shop come true led her to coming down to help run Nice Bike. All her cycling knowledge comes from hanging out in the service department and of course, riding some nice bikes.
She facilitated the hiring of the pack of dogs; interviews were pretty ruff. Bash the Doxiehuahua just wants to give everyone puppy kisses (no extra charge). Murgie the Mini Aussie, with a background in cattle herding, is a natural at helping people find their way to the service department.
Giving back
Since 2014, the Overlord and Sacha have used their unique position as shop owners to partner with several important charitable organizations.
Nice Bike has begun hosting a charity ride, started in 2018, to raise funds for the National Brain Tumor Society. The ride is called the Dura Mater Hill Climb and is an elite ride with limited rider numbers. The inaugural ride raised over $33,000 with just 27 riders! This year's ride has gone virtual. Learn more about the 2020 Dura Mater Hill Climb Virtual Edition.
Nice Bike accepts donations in the form of used bicycles and parts as well as cash for Dong Ngo's Cycling Pals which helps get kids on bikes and honors a mentor from the Denver Spoke. Learn more about Dong Ngo's Cycling Pals.
Nice Bike also used to field teams for the CF Cycle for Life which raises money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and still encourages clients to join the ride even when Nice Bike doesn’t have a formal team.

This is the part of the website where most shops bore you with details about their lives. They were born, they worked in bike shops, they really like bikes. But we like to think you already know that stuff. We would rather tell you the things that the Overlord thinks matter. Things like honesty and thoroughness; that he treats every bike that comes for service the same, no matter the brand or cost. He’s about no pressure sales because it’s about the right bike for the rider, not how many bikes he sells.
The Overlord is not inclined to brag, so here are a few things Sacha thinks are important too. The Overlord has built some of the nicest, most exotic bicycles in the world with the utmost attention to detail. She knows how it sounds but check out Nice Bike’s builds here and decide for yourself. The Overlord offers build details that most shops wouldn’t, for example custom painted Lightweight Meilenstein wheelsets. Check out those wheels here.
But most important is David’s bottom line: making sure you have fun riding your bike.

Sacha
Senior Directives Planner

Sacha is often quoted as saying that she does everything but wrench. And that statement has quite a bit of truth to it. You will see her on the sales floor, behind the counter ringing you up, or getting into an in-depth conversation on the color of bar tape that complements a build the best; unbelievably, most of her time at the shop is filled with operations management. Sacha does all the things you cannot see that keep our business running.
And on top of that, she coordinates all our charitable endeavors because one of things that is most important to her is using our platform as shop owners to give back to our community.
Her bottom line: bikes go faster when they are aesthetically pleasing. Oh, and go rescue a dog.

Bash (Space Worm)
Doxiehuahua
Bash is a rescue pup; he was found with a head wound wandering the streets of Denver at just 6 months old. He's a special guy whose neurologist recommends we don't ever expect him to "dog". So we don't. We call him the Space Worm.
As Bash gets older (he's seven now!), the issues he faces get a little more intense. Now he has a hard time being around the noise of the shop. We pick and choose days he comes down carefully to try to offset some of it and avoid having to drug him to be here.
He's still full of love and thinks people only come to the shop to see him.
Bash isn’t quite as smart as his brother when it comes to traditional tricks, but he is exceptional at training people. He had us trained from day one to carry him downstairs and cater to his every need. Guess it’s good that we’re so trainable.
Important things according to the doxiehuahua: people for playing, toys for playing, toes for licking (that’s your warning), and did we mention people to play with him?

Murgatroyd (Murgie)
Mini Aussie
Murgie is settling into his job here at the shop even though it is very different from his first job on a cattle ranch. He's our fluffy doorbell and will meet you in the yard and lead you all the way to the service department. He does find it suspicious should you come through the front door and will let you know.
Murgie is a little nervous about this thing called life so we help him feel more confident by teaching him tricks. He would love to show off for you and earn some yummy treats at the same time. New bike day? He'd love to give you some high fives!
Important things according to the mini aussie: that you go where he shows you to go, and that you give plenty of treats to reward his many tricks.
Happy clients
I have worked with David on my bike projects since his days at the Denver Spoke. He is a master at consulting with you on your build, procuring any exotic parts you may need and building your bike, and then keeping your bike running perfectly. Together with Sacha, what puts them and your bike over the top are their eyes for the little details, from bar tape color coordination to chain ring bolt colors and even colored cable housing ends. Along with their passion for beautiful bikes and bike parts, the best thing about them is the respect they show for all their customers, whether you are building a $10,000 dream bike or just need a flat fixed.
