The Dura Mater Hill Climb started in 2018 due to a horrible diagnosis within our family. As we move through 2019, it is with hearts heavy from loss. As we piece our family back together, we do so while looking to other families who are in the same situation. To other families who are also forced to stitch back together the fabric of their lives after loss. It is for families in these positions that we ride.
The Dura Mater 2019, 9/14/19, is in memory of Scott Albertson, but also honors and remembers all those who have had brain tumors rip open their families. In 2018, 24000 new families faced the tragic diagnosis of GBM. For those families there are not a lot of treatment options, and most of those options have horrible side effects. It is for those families that we ride.
GBM is a disease you rarely hear about, until you or someone you love is diagnosed. A disease with less than a 6% 5-year survival rate. We ride so that a disease this deadly no longer remains shrouded in mystery and uncertainty. We ride to bring a spotlight on this terminal aggressive disease because more awareness can bring more demand for research, for drugs, for options; this is why we ride.
We ride so that one day, others can survive.
In order to motivate our riders to raise more funds for the NBTS, we are offering a raffle this year. For every $200 a cyclist raises for the ride, their name goes in the raffle. The more money they raise, the more likely they are to win an amazing item.
Ceramic Speed has started our raffle donations off with an over sized pulley wheel system and UFO chain.
We are excited to share the awesome products for the raffle with you on our instagram and our website as they are donated.
